How to Style an Easter Table

To create a simple woodland themed Easter table couldn’t be simpler! I am going to share with you how to style an Easter table for a charming celebration.

As always, let yourself be guided by nature, so using yellows and greens is perfect! Seasonal daffs are abundant, and you can buy theses from the supermarket for about 99p a bunch.

You can use bits and bobs from around the house, I found a little bunny, a mouse, my hedgehog candle holders. I also foraged in the garden for some foliage. (if you don’t have a garden, then try the hedgerows or ask a neighbour)

I then used my dyed muslin for the runner and napkins, it’s a great material to dye and very reasonable (I think about £3-£4 a metre) I also used the same material to create my knot napkins, a great way to keep the styling coordinated.

Start with your base, the table. Perhaps you will use a cloth, or a runner. I then dress the central piece, with florals and my finds from around the house. Remember to think of varying heights. Add in your chargers/placemats, plates, cutlery and glasses. Finally add your details such as name tags, and gifts.

I saw a question on Instagram the other day; ‘Shall I not have chargers. Will anyone notice’ My advice would be that you need to consider the bigger picture here, how will the look come together as a whole? You want to create a cohesive experience, and I think that the details are what make this.

If this is related to cost, then think outside the box here; for example, could you use napkins as a setting rather than a charger? I have used mismatched shabby chic style paper napkins as place setting before now as the table was looking quite empty.

Much love and a very Happy Easter!!

Summer Meadow Table Decor

Summer Meadow table decor for a DIY wedding or intimate gathering. You can forage most of the florals, or buy from the supermarket. The grasses add a natural, whimsical feel to the overall design.

Hazy Summer

Good morning! Well, the dull days have not improved since last week, in fact it’s now not just dull, but raining! We really are in the full throes of winter now, so I thought I would brighten up your day with a feature on summer meadow table decor ideas.  These ideas would be lovely for a home intimate wedding or gathering.

Back in the hazy days of summer sunshine, I went for a quick forage in the hedgerows to gather some grasses and buttercups which are great for creating a wild, country look for your table. I always believe that nature creates its own colour palette which never looks wrong!

I chose pastel colours which complimented the stationery and teamed it with a botanically dyed table runner (I will share a tutorial on how I did this this another time)

Candles and Holders

Mismatched candle holders and an array of candles adorn the table, which keeps it not only visually interesting, but I used scented tealights which bring in another dimension to your experience.

TIP: When planning your table scapes, try to involve all of your senses and imagine you are creating an immersive experience for your guests; think if scents and lighting, candles bring an undeniable romance.

The wild grasses filled different shaped vases and bowls; great for going to boot fairs and charity shops to gather a variety whilst keeping costs to a minimum.

I picked plates that have a wildflower look and rose gold cutlery, the glasses also create part of the theme with the colours blending with the candles.

TIP: Do not forget the cutlery and glassware as these can make a dramatic difference to the finished look.

Lastly, I used the rest of the flowers (and some roses from my garden) to create the bouquet, finished with my hand dyed silks.

You can also use this approach to create a romantic sweetheart table.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did creating it, let me know what you think in the comments.
